Benefits

It is crucial for ECER to protect and conserve its environment in order to ensure a long-term, sustainable development for future generation. The projects identified will have several benefits that include:

Protection of wildlife
The ECER will protect wildlife within its ecosystem as they form an integral part of the rainforest and consequently the success of eco-tourism. Sanctuaries such as Gandah Elephant Sanctuary and other wildlife protection programmes will ensure that these animals can live and thrive in its natural environment.
Protection of rainforest and biodiversity
Protecting the rainforest and natural flora and fauna is important in order to avoid silting, pollution and erosion. In turn, water sources and catchment areas will be protected to ensure sufficient supply of clean groundwater water. In addition, rainforest flora and fauna that may be sources to bio-medicines can also be preserved.
Integrated urban planning
Integrated urban planning that includes strong management of local environment will ensure that development is controlled, the environment is protected from pollution, and waste treatment and disposal facilities are established to treat and manage effluent effectively. Integrated urban plans will implement best practices to protect the ecosystem.
